How is custom jewellery made and why should you trust Mialis jewellery studio?
Imagine wearing a piece of jewellery that no one else in the world has. No mass production, no compromise. Just your ideas transformed into a bespoke piece of jewellery. Whether you are a lover of minimalism, extravagant design or simply have a very specific vision, we at Mialis will do our best to fulfil all your wishes. And how does custom made jewellery work for us? The whole process is very interesting, but not at all complicated for you. So if you are thinking about getting a custom made piece of jewellery, we will prepare you for everything in this article, so you know what you are getting into! There are many reasons! Custom jewellery is unique, thoughtful and often has a higher value than others – especially the emotional kind! Pre-made jewellery can be beautiful, but it will never be as special as jewellery made just for you. With custom jewellery, you get a completely unique piece that no one else will have. After all, no one can see inside your head. And if you're really creative, chances are the same idea hasn't occurred to ten other people around you. So whether you want to design an unconventional engagement ring or perhaps a personal anniversary gift, it will be one of a kind.
Why choose personalised jewellery over other gold jewellery?
There is only one original
To your taste down to the last detail
Do you have a clear idea of what you want your jewellery to look like? Are you or the future owner of new jewellery one of the most demanding? Or have you just not found the right jewellery yet and would like to have something unusual created?
Whatever the case, we will make sure that the final result matches your expectations to the last detail. You can choose the colour and type of metal, the various gemstones and their shapes, the cut and setting style, the overall design of the jewellery, the shape of the ring band or even the surface. In short, anything you can think of. And together we will fine-tune every millimetre to perfection. From minimalist elegance to spectacular, striking jewellery.
What is the process of creating a custom piece of jewellery at Mialis?
Consultation
We will discuss your idea together. We communicate either by email or you can book a personal meeting in our showroom in Prague, where you can outline your basic idea. How the jewellery should look, whether it should be with or without engraving and other requirements. The rest of the communication will be by email. We share the designs with you, adjust the details and approve the final form of the jewellery.
Design proposal
Depending on the complexity of your requirements, we create a 3D visualisation of the jewellery. For very simple designs there is no need, so we always assess individually whether it is necessary to make a visualization. We can also create sketches on a rush basis upon consultation. We do not start production until the design is fully approved, so you have nothing to worry about. Your jewellery will arrive exactly as you imagined it.
Choice of material and stones
We will help you choose the right material. We offer white, yellow and rose gold in 14 karat or 18 karat purity. If the particular piece allows it, you can also choose platinum if necessary (it always has a different price than gold). And there is also a choice of gemstones to suit your preferences.
Handcrafted jewellery
Once the 3D model is approved, it's all about honest craftsmanship and from there it's pretty much up to us. The entire piece of jewellery is created in the Mialis jewellery studio in Prague. We do not work with semi-finished products. Every detail you see on the jewellery is created by our hands.
We print the approved 3D model in wax or other plastic material. We then cast the desired metal into this mould. This raw piece of metal is then carefully crafted into the correct shape by our team of experienced goldsmiths. This is followed by polishing and the jewellery is then faceted with stones, if this has been chosen during the consultation. Finally, only minor finishing touches such as re-polishing and cleaning are carried out.
Once the jewellery is finished, it is sent to the Assay Office so that you, the customer, can be 100% sure of its authenticity. Because we stand behind our work and our quality, all our unique jewellery is hallmarked.
Finishing and delivery
We pride ourselves on our personal approach, which is why we always work to an individual agreement from the outset. If someone has been wanting an engraving, this is the time to do it. And then it's time to finally meet your new piece of jewellery for the first time.
If you would like to collect it in person, we will arrange a time to suit you. But if you're a long way from us, don't worry. We can show you your dream bespoke piece before it's packed by appointment. To give you something to look forward to, and to make sure you are confident before we hand the parcel over to the carrier, we will email you a photo of the contents.

Frequently asked questions
How long does it take to make a personalized piece of jewellery?
Production time depends on the complexity of the piece and is usually between 21 and 28 working days. For simpler designs the lead time may be shorter. However, we always ask how soon you need the jewellery. Based on this, we will assess whether we are able to fulfil the order. Deadlines are sacred to us, so don't worry. What we say at the beginning is what counts.
How much does custom manufacturing cost and what does the price depend on?
When you say custom made jewellery, the price cannot be fixed. It is individual and depends on the material chosen, the size, the type, the quality of the gemstones and the complexity of the design. However, you will always be given the price of a bespoke piece in advance. After the consultation, we will send you a detailed quotation by email. And we will only start working on your order once we have received a deposit of 30% of the total price.
What materials and gemstones can I choose from?
We offer a wide range of materials and gemstones, including 14K and 18K gold (white gold, yellow gold, rose gold), platinum and various gemstones. Our collection includes a wide range of beautiful gemstones, both natural and lab-grown, in a variety of colours:
Diamonds, including black diamonds, lab-grown diamonds, salt and pepper diamonds, moissanites, sapphires, rubies, emeralds, amethysts, aquamarines, garnets, moonstones, morganites, moss agates, opals, peridots, tanzanites, topazes.
Lab-grown gemstones are an environmentally friendly and more affordable alternative to natural gemstones.
Do I have to have my own design or can you help me with the design?
Of course we will help you with everything and you don't need to have a final design. However, it is important that you have at least a basic idea so that we have something to work from. We start by discussing the type of jewellery you want to make. So you'll need to know if you want bespoke rings, bracelets, necklaces or earrings. Also think about your preferred material, style and any special requirements. You can also send us inspiration in the form of photos or sketches to help us understand your wishes.
Is it possible to make a piece of jewellery based on an older family ring?
Yes, we can create a piece of jewellery with a story behind it. Thanks to modern 3D modelling technology and our experienced designers, we are able to create a copy of almost any piece of jewellery. And after hours of meticulous and precise work, a truly faithful copy is created in the hands of our jewellers. It is important that we have a good quality photograph of the jewellery you want, a sketch or the jewellery itself if you have it. This is the only way we can duplicate all the details.
How is the jewellery maintained once it has been made?
Although exclusive handmade jewellery is different in appearance to all other jewellery, it requires the same care. Wash it regularly with lukewarm water and a mild detergent, then polish it dry with a soft cloth. Don't miss professional cleaning. We are happy to do this for you once a year, free of charge.
