Mother's Day is just around the corner! Let's remind ourselves of its meaning

It has always been known that mothers are heroines. But to make sure they don't forget it themselves, it's important to remind them from time to time. Mother's Day calls for it. It is one of the most important holidays celebrated almost all over the world. Find out more and maybe even get some inspiration!

Why is Mother's Day celebrated?

Every mom deserves to be appreciated for the selfless love and care she gives to her child. So don't think of Mother's Day as just another commercial holiday, think of it as a chance to say thank you to your mum for all she does for you.

A little piece of history

The roots of Mother's Day are deep in history. In ancient Greece, people celebrated a similar holiday to celebrate fertility and all mothers. However, it wasn't until the 20th century that Mother's Day took on its current form.

The first mention of an international celebration of motherhood was in 1907, in honour of Anna Reeves Jarvis, a fighter for mothers' rights. Within a year, the holiday was being celebrated by the general public, and in 1914 the first official celebration was proclaimed by the USA President.

How does it work in the world?

Mother's Day is celebrated in the world in different ways, mostly offspring give gifts to their moms and spend a pleasant time with them. It is fascinating to see how its tradition has evolved and spread around the world, but at the same time, it has remained connected with the most important thing –thankfulness to all mothers.

As in our country, the second Sunday in May has become the traditional date for celebrating Mother's Day in many countries. This day first entered the calendar in the USA and has become popular in Canada, Australia, Germany and many others.

However, the date of celebration may depend on cultural traditions and national customs. In the UK, for example, Mother's Day is celebrated on the fourth Sunday of Lent, which is usually in March or April. In France, they reserve the last Sunday in May for this holiday. And in some Arab countries, mothers are celebrated on the day of the spring equinox, 21 March.

How to please her?

There are many ways to celebrate Mother's Day. Sometimes small gestures are what mean the most to others. Just a sincere thank you and a hug, from which every mom will know how important she is. But on this day, every mom should know that she is special. So if you really want to surprise her, don't forget an original gift. They say you can never offend any woman with a flower, but try to be a little more creative when choosing one.

Tips for gifts for moms

Give her something that she can always carry with her, such as gold jewellery is ideal. At first glance it may seem like just a pretty accessory, but the wearer will know that it holds more and whenever she looks at it, she will think of you.

Lovers of understated style will be enchanted by jewellery with precious stones, such as minimalist earrings with morganite or a minimalist necklace with moissanites. They will be able to wear these pieces almost anywhere, as their delicacy makes them suitable for any outfit.

Mother's Day, however, is asking you to gift yours with a MOM ring. With it, every woman will be able to proudly show the world that she is a mother.

But if you want something even more personal, we recommend opting for personalised jewellery. A pendant with the children's names will be a great success. In a personalised fingerprint pendant, you can subtly hide your bond with your child or husband, while giving a designer piece of jewellery that will charm any showgirl.

Celebrate Mother's Day in style

Mother's Day is one of the most beautiful and symbolic days of the year. Mark the second Sunday in May on your calendar to show your love, admiration and gratitude to those who give us the most – mothers. Whether with small gestures or large gifts, remember and make your mom happy too!
